A shopping expedition for buying an antique Oriental rug is a travel back into time across long forgotten spaces. Open air markets with hand-woven rugs piled one on top the other where one has to skim through them or hanging from rods with people imagining how they would look in the office or in the house. Antique oriental rugs have been used for decorating homes since as early as the 8th century B.C. and there are no signs of receding popularity. The first documented evidence about the use of these rugs is the Chinese texts dating back almost 800 years.
